In terms of the sustainability of animal breeding, the solidarity and cooperation of breeders is very important. At this stage, associations and unions come into play.
KİFGÜD association established in Kayseri breeds Ile de France breed. They have established a system that will contribute to animal husbandry within the association, which can be called a first in Turkey. Association members must be within Kayseri province, and there are inspectors within the association. These inspectors control whether the members comply with the rules, animal quality, and herd tracking. Pedigree is given great importance within the association. For a healthy pedigree formation, inspectors record every step of the breeders, record with herd tracking software and videos. They create digital traces of animals in a provable form. To keep breeders and animals under control, they do not accept members from outside Kayseri. Also, association members come together every 3 weeks and conduct seminar/training programs.

What is herd tracking?
Herd tracking is the accounting of the farm. When accounting is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is the income/expense balance. This is discussed in terms of money. However, the main source of money on a farm is animals. When we do herd tracking, we track our animals, actually we know our accounting. By selecting the best animals and not maintaining the most inefficient ones anymore, converting them to slaughter and cash, we increase our sustainability. In smart farm management systems, we use chipped animal tracking systems to do herd tracking. Chipped tracking refers to RFID ear tags, i.e., chipped ear tags. So what happens if we don’t do chipped animal tracking? Can’t we do herd tracking with non-chipped ear tags? Of course we can. The advantage of chipped animal tracking is to perform operations quickly and practically, error-free, and gain labor savings, especially when there are many animals (over 200 animals). Also, there are different advantages brought by the chipped ear tag in our smart farm system. For example, automatic weighing of your animals, automatic counting of your animals.
